2005-2006 season
This three-concert season showcases the professional and varied singing audiences have come to expect from the Cayuga Vocal Ensemble, presenting our signature sound in the distinctive performance of famous works, inspiring combinations of voices and orchestra, and new collaborations.
In October, we present an A-list program of B composers, performing church music by Byrd (the rousing Laudibus in Sanctis) and Bach (Jesu, meine freude), folksongs and lieder by Brahms, and Britten’s ethereal and moving A Hymn to St. Cecilia. In March, we are pleased to announce a new collaboration with the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Kimbo Ishii-Eto, who will share conducting duties with myself. Come hear this fruitful blending of chamber ensembles as we perform Bach’s Cantata “Wir danken dir, Gott” and Mozart’s Missa Brevis — an event not to be missed. May’s program will be given to great American choral composers and arrangers, with Randall Thompson’s beloved and moving Frostiana heading the bill.
All of these concerts will be given in the gracious and spacious confines of Ithaca’s newly renovated First Presbyterian Church, whose fine-tuned acoustics and fine new organ will enhance our vocal sound. We look forward to seeing you for this varied season of delights for the ear.
